THE REPUBLICANS HAVE TO BE STOPPED

In the wake of Katrina, Bush promised a Johnsonesque "war on poverty".

Words- just words.

After promising 200 billion of no-bid contracts for his buddies at halliburton, Bush left it to his republican cohorts in the congress to raise the hue and cry against big government spending, and fight for the interests of the taxpayers

Where are we to get these 200 billion dollars? In a time of war, and unprecidented natural disaster, the republican congress steps to the fore, and is demanding that Bush's tax cuts be rescinded, and that the richest 2% of the country pay their fair share, in the cause of collective sacrifice, in these rough times.

Yeah- and if you believe that- I have a bridge in the mojave you might be interested in.

Nope- the republican congressional majority seeks solutions to the current crisis in 50 billion in cuts to Medicare for the poor and the elderly, student aid, food stamp programs, and pension loans.

The poor and disadvantaged are being asked to bear the brunt of this budget shortfall- and this is wrong. This is unconscionable, unjust, and downright un-american.

the solution? As always- it's up to you. Get in touch with your congresspeople, and demand that they stand up against this insanity.

Personally, I got an actional alert about this topic from moveon.org, but they didn't deign to send me a root page to re-direct folks like ya'll to an easy page for resources- they need to get on the ball- seriously...
